I launched this site earlier this week as a way to document and chronicle my steps toward taking a 1 year sabbatical starting June of 2011. One of the things that really instigated my desire to take a 1 year sabbatical was The Art of Non-Conformity blog written by Chris Guillebeau and in particular his “A Brief Guide to World Domination“. The key talking point that really caught my attention was that I don’t have to live my life the way others expect me to.
I have certain dreams and goals that I would really like to accomplish and quite frankly I have been too fearful to begin to take the first steps toward realizing them. This book that Chris has written has really helped to see that there is no time like the present to start to work to overcome those fears and inhibitions and make progress.
I felt so strongly about the core message of this book; the idea that you are free to do whatever it is that rocks your world. Life doesn’t have to be a mundane series of repetitive tasks and habits. You really can step out and live your passions and really make a difference in the world.
So in that light I wanted to give away 2 copies of this book to people that left a comment on my earlier post about where they would go or what they would do should they take a 1 year sabbatical. You can see all the comments here. I ended up ordering 3 books so there are three lucky winners which I randomly selected (names were entered into a spreadsheet and a random number generated from random.org).
And The Winners Are…
I’ve sent each of you an email. Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the book as much as I have. Thanks to everyone that left a comment. I really appreciate you reading this blog and I hope that as the weeks turn into months and we inch closer to sabbatical time that you continue to find this blog interesting and engaging. For those that didn’t get selected I still encourage you to get this book. It’s really that good. I wish I had more copies to hand out.
